About Us

Hi, we're Sara and Lara Crow, owners of Crow & Co. To Go. We began Crow & Co. as a brick and mortar bookshop in Hutchinson, Kansas, in the summer of 2020 when the community's bookstore closed suddenly as a result of the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic. We absolutely adored the 4+ years we spent building community and creating a literal safe space for the underrepresented voices in Kansas.
Due to the passage of some rather oppressive laws in the state, however, we were forced to move from Kansas at the end of 2023, and as a Minnesota native, I knew exactly where I wanted to land: Duluth, my soul home. Fate handed us a gorgeous house on a little chunk of land and we set to rebuilding our lives and our ambitions.
As I reflected on the incredible bookstores I loved in this town, I realized that we were handed yet another opportunity. There are so many wonderful places here that serve the general public that we didn't have to fill that space anymore--we could be wonderfully, weirdly ourselves. So off we went, tagging our new pop-up "Queer, Weird, and Wonderful" and focusing on the quirky, off-the-beaten-path types of books that we loved and wanted others to find, too (with a bonus emphasis on the social justice side of things that naturally comes from existing as any traditionally marginalized group pretty much anywhere).
Not long after we launched the pop-ups, Cori, the owner of Ritual Salad in Lakeside, told us she was opening a new location in Superior and that she wanted her favorite weird little pop-up to have a space with her. And voila! Suddenly we had a little corner in the old Town Hall under the Spirit Room to call our own!
